The story of houseboat Jolie:
When we first saw our classic Kempenaar barge her name was stil Jole. She was working hard and sailed throughout the Netherlands with grain, wheat and corn. After the approval of our houseboat design by the municipality of Zaanstad we bought her and started the design (by Wendy Rommers) and renovation.
So Jole retired and we changed her name to Jolie. We shortened her 16 m at Talsma Shipyard. All the work on the steal we’ve done at Koopmans IJzerwerk in Harlingen. Moed & Van Gulpen (now merged with SRF Shipyard) was our interior constructor who built the design exactly the way we wanted it.
This whole renovation project took about a year. And at the end of 2010 we sailed Jolie to Zaandam. Where she has been a very safe, cozy and beautiful home to me and my family. I now sell our houseboat independently (without mooring), so a new person or family can enjoy living and sailing on the water at the characterful Jolie.
