Classic Swedish hand-crafted motor yacht from 2010. One of just 10 built and 5, constructed with a GRP hull. Timeless elegance, fantastic seakeeping and beautifully constructed.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
This unique vessel was hand crafted in a limited run of only 10 boats, with just 5 of the highly sought-after G model featuring a GRP hull, surrounded by stunning solid mahogany and teak. Her exceptional sea properties and inspiration from classic Swedish boats like the Storebro Solö Ruff make this timeless and elegant motor yacht a true favorite among Swedish boat enthusiasts.
Completed with the utmost attention to detail, she exudes exclusivity with its exquisite leather details from Tärnsjö tannery, handmade stainless-steel details, and premium textiles from Storebro Wallpaper. It's no wonder this boat is often referred to as a "piece of jewelry".
This particular example is build no.6 and one of the 5 ‘G’ models with the GRP hull. Her first owner took delivery in the summer of 2010 and passed her to the second and present owner in the Autumn 2016. With just 150 hours run on her Volvo D3-220 diesel engine, which itself was completely rebuilt in 2015/16, she has been meticulously maintained by both her owners, with professional winter storage every season.
MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:
“Scandinavia has a long boating history, which first started with the Vikings. The cold climate and rough waters demanded high quality hulls and materials. The boats where very robust and seaworthy and even hold for travelling over the Atlantic Ocean.
Centuries later, the first leisure boats were made in the 20th century. With industrialisation came vacationing, and boating became a way of enjoying free time and getting away from everyday life as well as to socialise with family and friends. In Sweden, boat designers such as C G Pettersson, Ruben Östlund, Einar Runius, the Forslund brothers, etc. became synonymous with boat design and new practical solutions for life onboard. One of the most popular and loved Scandinavian leisure boats of all time is the classic Storebro Solö Ruff (1954- 1964), which was designed by Einar Runius.
The Swedish retro designer Bo Zolland and the world wide well-reputed yacht designer Håkan Södergren together preserve this great heritage in Golden-Cut Yachts. Christian Runius, a relative to Einar Runius designed the contemporary details like the handmade lanterns and bollards etc.
Golden-Cut boats possess genuine characteristics, from the ”old school” designers and their touch for beauty and detail without compromising on modern technology and comfort.”
PRESS REVIEW:
When Richard Granberg decided on a change of direction from his communications business, the Swedish version of the TV Series ‘Dragon’s Den’ was recording and Richard was invited to pitch his fledgling marine business…
…an hour after filming had finished, he was asked to return to the studio by three of the five Dragons, who proceeded to place orders for his boats…. He accepted the challenge to have three boats ready for delivery by the following midsummer… That was three years ago and now the tenth Golden Cut 28 has just been finished…
…Richard began by getting concept drawings for a 1950’s inspired fast motorboat from the renowned Swedish retro designer Bo Zolland, but to the take the design to the production stage, he brought in one of Sweden’s most famous yacht designers, Håkan Södergren. The pair hatches a plan to utilize a hybrid construction, making the planing hull’s high-stressed bottom section of GRP, while having the freeboard in a choice of either clinker mahogany or GRP…
Initial hulls were manufactured in Instabul, Turkey, before being transported to Sweden for fit-out, but ince the start of production, CMI Composites at Visby has come on board to produce both the GRP and the mahogany-planked version of the hull. Part-finished hulls are then towed to the Golden Cut’s workshops, set up, in a ironic twist, in Storebro’s old workshops within the Windy Scandinavia factory at Vastervik.
… On the water, the Golden Cut 28 is noticeably smooth, both in its propulsion and its fit-out. The highly advanced Volvo Penta D3 unit assists this to a large degree, and the close-coupled Aquamatic leg’s contra-rotating propellers, propulsion is virtually vibration-free and extremely quiet. This compact set-up also has the benefit of keeping the entire propulsion unit at the rear of the boat – basically in the lazarette – leaving an uncluttered, spacious cockpit...
…Such is the Swedish market’s psyche that spending overnights or weekends on board is high on the list of owner’s priorities. So the entire forepeak houses a commodious and comfortable vee-berth, including spacious heads compartment, while out in the cockpit, sofas convert into bunks and there’s a small galley area to port. Opposite a large dining table folds flat to the hull side when not in use…
…Fit-out in high-quality and mostly of Swedish origin: Storebro upholstery, Hella lights, Tarnsjo Garveri leatherwork. Much effort has been put into producing authentically retro-styled fittings – cleats have been made to old patterns but incorporate the Golden Cut logo…
… The name Golden Cut refers to the golden ratio – where a line is broken into two segments such that the ratio of the large segment to the whole is the same as the ration of the smaller segment to the larger one – a mathematical constant of around 1.618. It’s a concept that has been used by artists, architects and engineers for thousands of years, and always develops shapes and structures that are pleasing to the eye.
On the boat itself, where the windscreen breaks the sheet line, the length of the swim platform, the layout of the foredeck accoutrements and many more items have all been designed using this principle, and it has produced an attractive and functional design….
